Yes, to and from the Welcome Braai and the Wedding. The Padel and Pool Day events are optional and casual, so please arrange your own via hotel shuttle, Uber Black, or Magnus Tours.

Late February is the height of the South African summer — warm, sunny, and dry. Expect temperatures between 25–32°C (77–90°F) during the day, cooling slightly in the evenings. The Stellenbosch valley can get quite warm, so light fabrics are your friend (which aligns nicely with our dress code!). It can get much cooler in the evening, with some windchill, so we'd suggest you pack light layers for late nights outdoors.

We kindly ask that you leave kids at home for the entirety of the wedding celebrations. Thank you for understanding!

Parking on-site is extremely limited, so we ask that only on-site guests plan to park at Molenvliet.

South Africa uses the South African Rand (ZAR). The current exchange rate is approximately R17–19 to $1 USD, which means your dollar goes a long way. Credit cards are widely accepted at hotels, restaurants, and most shops.

Tipping culture is more modest than in the US. A customary tip is 10% for dining, or 15–20% for exceptional service. For drivers, we'd suggest tipping R100–200 per ride (roughly $6–10).

Both Cape Town and Stellenbosch are wonderful, welcoming destinations and very well-travelled by international tourists. As with any major city, a little common sense goes a long way. We'd suggest keeping valuables out of sight in public and not walking alone in unfamiliar areas at night.

We recommend using Uber Black throughout your trip — it's reliable, comfortable, and remarkably affordable by international standards. Uber is widely available in both Cape Town and Stellenbosch, and Uber Black drivers are more thoroughly vetted, making it the easy choice for safety and peace of mind. For day trips around the Cape Peninsula or Winelands, renting a car gives you the most flexibility and is straightforward to organise. Most hotels can also arrange airport transfers, which is a great option on arrival. We also recommend using Ilios Tours and Magnus Tours for private drivers and guided tours.

Yes — South Africa uses a unique Type M three-pronged plug that can be harder to find than standard European or US adaptors. We'd recommend purchasing one on Amazon before you travel rather than relying on finding one at the airport.

Yes — we'd recommend attaching a combination lock to each bag for every transit leg of your journey. This is standard practice for travel in South Africa and is required by some airlines. A basic combination padlock from Amazon does the job perfectly.

South Africans primarily communicate via WhatsApp, so the quickest way to reach most properties and restaurants is via WhatsApp message or email rather than a traditional phone call. Keep the time difference in mind when reaching out — South Africa is EST+6.
